Littorai Hirsch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012 is made by Ted Lemon using fruit from the north-east-facing, biodynamically-farmed, Hirsch Vineyard which runs inland from the Pacific Ocean at about 420 metres above sea level. After harvest and period of cold-soaking the must was fermented in open-topped vats using native yeast. After malolactic transformation the wine was aged on the lees for around 18 months in French oak barrels, about one-third of which were first fill. A wine with flowers and spice on the nose. Nicely full on the palate with good acidity and elegant tannic structure. Fine length and excellent complexity.
