Finca Villacreces Ribera del Duero 2011 is made with organically-grown Tempranillo (90%) and Cabernet Sauvignon from the 60 hectare estate which is boundaried by the vineyards of renowned estate Vega Sicilia to the west and the Douro River to the north. The 2 varieties are fermented separately in stainless steel vats with about one-quarter then undergoing malolactic transformation in French oak before blending, maturation for 16 months in French oak barrels and bottling. A deep purple wine with lots of dark berry fruit character on th nose complemented by notes of coffee and toast. Full-bodied on the palate with lots of smooth and spicey dark fruit flavours.
