Klippenkop Pinotage is made with fruit from a number of good vineyard sites in the Western Cape region of South Africa. Harvested at optimum ripeness the juice is fermented in with the skins for 5 days before being racked to large French oak barrels where it undergoes malolactic transformation before being matured in stainless stee tanks with French oak staves. A ruby red wine with lots of estery banana and ripe red fruit on the nose. Medium-bodied with dark fruit character and a little oak spice, ripe, soft tannins and a soft fruity finish.
