Quinta do Infantado Douro Red 2012 is made by the winery that was established by the heir to the Portugese crown in 1816 using fruit from their all \"Class A\" vineyards. The vineyards are planted with a mixture of the varieties, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz making the wine a so-called \"Field Blend\". Crushing is, as tradition dictates, by foot in \"lagars\" and is followed by a slow fermentation (giving a drier style of wine), malolactic transformation and ageing, partly in oak. The result is a deep purple wine with an intense nose of dark fruit character. Medium-bodied on the palate with flavours of ripe dark fruit, smooth tannins and a long finish.
