Spy Valley Pinot Noir 2010 uses hand-picked fruit from 7 separate parcels across the sandy soiled Marlborough region. Fermented spontaneously in open-topped vats then aged in oak barrels for around 10 months. The lovely ruby coloured wine has a nose of of darks fruit and violets. On the palate red fruit dominates. The tannins are firm but never austere making this a wine which can be enjoyed in its youth as well as with some ageing.
