Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc 2011 is made by Cloudy Bay graduates Ivan Sutherland and James Healy together with their wives Margaret and Wendy and viticulturist Nigel Sowman (husband of Spy Valley winemaker Kathy-Lee Bird) using fruit from their 150 hectare Ashmore vineyard in Renwick which is currently in transformation to organic status. The juice is fermented and matured in old oak using wild yeasts. A pale yellow wine with grapefruit and flowers on the nose. Full bodied with attractive yellow fruit flavours and added complexity from lees ageing in oak. Not a typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
