Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2014 is made by winemaker Helen Masters using grapes from vineyards in the Lismore, Waiora and Walnut Ridge regions of Martinborough where the average vine is about 15 years old. After harvest and de-stalking the must is fermented, after a maceration period of about 5 days, using native and selected yeasts. The wine then underwent malolactic transformation and was matured for 9 months in oak barrels, one-fifth of which were first-fill. The finished wine is approachable with berry fruit and cherry on the nose together with hints of spice and herbs. On the palate it is has fine tannic structure and excellent acidity.
