Donnafugata Polena 2012 is produced using a blend of the local variety Cataratto an Viognier (50/50). The wines benefits from good acidity thanks to large day to night variations in temperature and this maintains freshness in the wine and stops alcohol levels exceeding a reasonable 12.5%. Fermented and aged until bottling in stainless steel tank to preserve as much fruit character as possible. The wine is beautifully fresh, on the nose notes of citrus and tropical fruit. Much richer on the palate with stone fruit and an attractive richness which is balanced by a fresh finish.
