Azamor 2010 is produced usung a variety of mainly indigenous Portugese grape varieties such as Touriga Franca, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional and Alicante Boushet but does also use some merlot, syrah and petit verdot. The juice from each variety is fermented separately in stainless steel and then aged mostly also in stainless steel, a minority (30%) in French and American oak barrels before blending to achieve the balance required of the finished wine. It is a dark purple wine with lots of berry fruits on the nose. Quite rich on the palate with intense dark fruit character and a some pleasing savoury notes too supported by fine tannic structure and a good length.
