Loimer Kamptal Gruner Veltliner 2014 is made with fruit from vineyards around the town of Langenlois some 200-400 metres above sea level in the Kamp Valley where high summer temperatures are influenced by the cooling effect of the Kamp and Danube rivers and the northern Waldviertel. The long growing season produces ripe finely perfumed and flavoured wines. Fruit is harvested by hand and after a brief skin contact period the must is fermented in stainless steel vats and then remains on the lees until bottling. The wine is pale lemon yellow with notes of pepper and spice supporting the grapefruit and pineapple aromas and flavours. Medium bodied on the palate with an attractive mineral streak, great acidity balances the ripe fruit and makes for a lively and refreshing wine.
