Hopler Trockenbeerenauslese 2013 is made with fruit grown around the shores of Lake Neusiedlersee in Eastern Austria, perhaps the most reliable locaton in the world for the production of these wines which need the grapes to be affected by the so-called noble-rot botrytis. This fungal infection together with the correct weather conditions leads to the loss of water from the grapes concentrating the sugars and flavours. The most raisened berries are selected for trockenbeerenauslese wine and this example is rich, complex and concentrated with aromas and flavours of apricots and citrus fruirs together with honey and christmas spices all balanced by the natural acidity of the Riesling grape variety.
