McHenry Hohnen 3 Amigos Red 2009 is made by winemakers Ryan Walsh and Freya Hohnen using a blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Marsanne and Mataro (43,35,3,19) grown in McHenry Hohnen's vineyard holdings in the low-yielding Rocky Road, McLeod Creek and McHenry vineyards in the Margaret River region in south-western Australia. Following harvest the grapes are fermented in small, open-topped vats prior to blending and bottling. The finished wine has lots of dark berry fruits and plums complemented by spice and pepper. On the palate the wine is medium to full bodied, round and juicy with fine, ripe tannins that provide nice structure. Good long finish.
