Chateau de Fontenille Bordeaux Rouge 2012 is made by StEphane Defraine with a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (65/25/10) grown in the estate's vineyards about 100 metres above sea level in the Entre Deux Mers region between the rivers Garonne and Dordogne. After harvest the grapes were de-stalked and crushed and the must from each variety was fermented separately at 25oC in stainless steel vats before being aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (half of which were new) then blended and bottled. A ruby red wine with lots of ripe red fruit on the nose. On the palate it is balanced with mooth tannic structure complementing the sweet fruit and spice flavours. Good length.
