Coates and Seely Rose is a Blanc de Noirs, produced using a blend of Pinot Noir (65%) and Pinot Meunier (35%) grown on the chalk soils at Wooldings near Whitchurch. The fruit was harvested by hand and pressed immediately to conserve the maximum fruit character in the wine. The must was fermented in a mix of stainless steel, concrete and old French oak vessels before bottling, the secondary fermentation and 15 months ageing in the lees. A salmon pink sparkler with red berry fruits and classic brioche on the nose. Quite full on the palate with strong ripe red fruit flavours balanced by a crisp acidity. Long persistence.
