Le Clos Jordanne Pinot Noir Vineyard Twenty Mile Bench 2011 is made with fruit from the organically certified, prized, vineyard of the same name on the Niagara Escarpment. Fruit is de-stemmed and sorted before being placed in large oak vats for a 3 day cold soak before the spontaneous fermentation. After racking to French oak barrels, one third of which were new, malolactic transformation and 19 months of ageing the wine is bottled. Quite a dark Pinot Noir with abundant cherry and berry fruit, spice and toast on the nose. On the palate it is smooth with plenty of red and dark fruit flavours, ripe tannins and balanced oak influence. Complex and elegant.
