Loimer Steinmassl Riesling Kamptal Reserve 2012 made with fruit from organic Steinmassl vineyard between 350 metres above sea level in the Kamptal, west of Vienna, where the stony soils retain the heat of the sun long after sunset. The fruit was picked by hand and then crushed and fermented spontaneously in a mixture of stainless steel tanks and wooden casks (50/50). It was then aged in the lees for about 6 months prior to bottling. The bottled wine has quite subtle aromas of peaches and herbs on the nose. On the palate it is crisp and fresh with great acidity balancing the powerful fruit flavours. Full-bodied, balanced and with great length.
