Loimer Kaferberg Kamptal Reserve Gruner Veltliner 2013 is made with fruit from the 3 hectare Kaferberg vineyard about 300m above sea level, just north of Langenlois in the Kamp Valley where the climate gives long sunny days and cool nights leads to long ripening times and so excellent ripeness and flavour profiles. The grapes are picked by hand and the must is allowed to ferment spontaneously. The wine is then aged on the lees in large oak casks for 9 months before bottling. It has a fruity nose with nuances of herbs and spices, notably the classic white pepper. The palate is taut with excellent fruit intensity, it is powerful yet restrained somehow and has an excellent minerality and length.
