Omrah Pinot Noir 2013 is made with fruit predominantly grown in the Rocky Horror and hayview vineyards around Mount Barker in the Great Southern region of southern Australia. After harvest and crushing the juice is fermented in a mixture of open-topped and closed vessels with 9 days skin contact time. The wine was then aged an a mix of old and new (20%) French oak barrels where malolactic transformation also took place and was then blended and aged for another 7 months in barrel before bottling. On the palate the wine has cherry and vanilla complemented by subtle oak-derived vanilla notes. On the palate the tannins are smooth and the acidity balances the sweet fruit flavours and notes of spice. Good length.
