By Farr Farrside Geelong Pinot Noir 2013 is made with hand-harvested fruit from a selection of the younger vineyard parcels on the northernmost side of the volcanic-soiled vineyard. After crushing the must is fermented to dryness by natural yeasts, with a four day skin contact period, in open-topped, stainless steel, vats. The wine was then aged in French oak barrels, half of which were first-fill, for 18 months before bottling. The finished wine has plenty of sweet fruit complemented by a pleasant savouriness and minerality. Good acidity and the wine is enhanced by the oak toastiness which is also apparent on the palate. Good long finish, delicate yet with good tannic structure.
