Colome Estate Malbec 2013 is produced from a blend of hand-harvested, biodynamically-grown Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat (85/10/5) in vineyards at up to 2500m in altitude in the Alto Valle Calchaqui yielding a maximum of 7 tonnes per hectare of grapes. The juice is slow fermented using selected yeats strains with 25 to 30 days of skin contact. Half of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in Frenck oak barrels and then 75% of the wine is aged in new (30%) or second fill French oak for 15 months. A deep red wine with an intense nose of dark fruits and spices. On the palate it is round with smooth tannins and a meatiness to balance the sweet fruit. Oak is balanced, adding some toast, vanilla and smokiness.
