Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc Viognier 2014 is made by winemaker Michael Beaulac using a blend of Chenin Blanc and Viognier (80/20) grown in vineyards in Clarksburg in the Sacramento River Delta, an area whose constant breezing helps the vines from overheating and thus maintains natural acidity. The juice was fermented at low temperatures using 2 yeast strains then aged in stainless steel vats to help maintain fruitiness in the wine. The wine has lots of ripe fruit and flowers on the nose including notes of melon, peach, plum and apple blossom. On the palate it is crisp with flavours of grapefruit, pineapple and honey. The finish is off-dry but balanced by fine acidity.
