De Loach Heritage Reserve Zinfandel 2014 uses fruit from plots close to the Pacific Coastline to make this . The cooler climate regions close the the Pacific Coast make for a longer hang time for the fruit, adding complexity without any loss in acidity. The wine is a deep rubly colour and has an intense nose of dark fruit and oak. On the palate the wine is very fruit forward with lots of plum and berry fruit, with some spice and oakiness, all balanced by a pleasing acidity. Not overpowering as one may have expected.
