Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Customer Rating

Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2011 is made with fruit grown in the sandy soils typical of the region to produce a classic pale-yellow Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. On the nose it has all the grapefruit, passionfruit and elderflower character expected of this style. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees lending it some extra complexity. The crisp, refreshing acidity is balance by a little residual sugar.

Spy Valley Sauv Blanc 2011

We have waded our way through a few bottles (cases?) of SVSB (2010) before and found it fantastic – intense – almost eye crossingly good. Initial impressions of the 2011 – not as deep – still good but doesn’t have the wow factor of the 2010. Not sure if it may be better in a year perhaps?. I’d give the 2010 9/10 and the 2011 maybe 7/10.
